It’s not a big deal to see a Ford Ranger on the streets of Detroit, but this one is special. It’s the 2024 Ford Ranger. A next-generation model that debuted on the world market just over a year ago. That doesn’t include North America, where we’ve seen camouflaged test vehicles in the months since their debut. Now our Motown spy photographers have captured the new American Ranger. It probably comes as no surprise that the 2024 Ford Ranger shipped to North America resembles the global model. That may come as a surprise, given the unmarked trucks we’ve seen at Ford’s world headquarters in recent months. The cover art suggests that some styling tweaks would make these pickups unique, but that’s not the case. The only notable differences we’ve seen on this non-camo Ranger are the sliding rear window, backup camera, and high-mounted brake lights. The cameras and brake lights help confirm that it is an American truck.
This does not mean that it is a pure copy. The grille on this New 2024 Ford Ranger is said to be in the Lariat trim level and appears to have a slightly different pattern compared to the global model. Although the front end is the same with the same body lines, it looks a bit softer overall. Notably, we’ve also seen Camo Rangers with longer beds, which may not be optional for American buyers.
The all-new 2024 Ford Ranger is offered with gasoline and diesel engines, but natural gas power may be the only option in North America. The current generation Ranger uses only a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 270 horsepower (201 kilowatts) and 310 pound-feet (420 newton meters) of torque. A hybrid option will likely be available on the Ranger’s standard trim level, but we do know that the Ranger Raptor will have the twin-turbo V6 already confirmed for the US market.
Ford has confirmed that the North American 2024 Ranger will make its debut sometime this year. Since the automaker is keeping its midsize pickup under wraps, it could be weeks or even days before the official reveal.
