These are the finalists for the World Car of the Year 2023

The most nominated brand was BMW with five nominations, followed by Kia and Nissan with four each.

Finalists for this year’s World Car of the Year awards have been announced in the World Car, Electric, Luxury, Performance and Urban categories. BMW led the way with five nominations, followed by Kia and Nissan with four each. In the luxury car category, Land Rover has two nominations for its new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, while the new all-electric Lucid Air has two nominations.

The latest car category is the 2023 World Car Design Awards, which were shortlisted for judging by six design experts, including former Jaguar chief designer Ian Cullum.

Competitors include the Cadillac Lyriq, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Range Rover, Lucid Air and Nissan Z. The winner will be announced at the New York International Auto Show on Wednesday 5 April and will receive a new trophy designed by Ian Cullum.
