The Encore is Buick’s first lineup and it’s getting an update, and that’s exactly what we’re getting with the 2024 Encore GX. The all-new face features a new Buick logo, while the interior gets a digital makeover. For those looking for more luxury at a lower price, the elegant Avenir finish is now available.
Inside the 2024 Buick Encore GX
The biggest news about the 2024 Buick Encore GX is the updated interior. The old model dash and switch groups are gone. Instead, there’s what Buick calls the Virtual Cockpit system, which has a digital driver’s display and a central infotainment screen integrated into a single screen. The result is a 19-inch diagonal screen, split between 8-inches for the driver’s screen and 11-inches for the head unit. Buick says it’s the largest infotainment screen in the 2024 Encore GX segment, even though it’s the same size as the recently revealed 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
The digital makeover gave the new 2024 Encore GX a cleaner vibe, but the tactile buttons weren’t completely removed. The dials and buttons for the climate functions sit below the relocated air vents, and the traditional gear stick still extends up from the center console. Opting for the new Avenir trim gets you plenty of beige leather that contrasts against the black in the cabin. The Avenir model adorns the headrests and door sills, and electrically adjustable seats for both the driver and passenger are included. The revised ST trim also brings distinctive branding to the conservatory, albeit with a sportier twist.
Its exterior design evolves
Exterior-wise, it looks very similar to the December 2022 preview spy shots, so the details here shouldn’t come as a surprise. Slim headlamps sit above the redesigned grille and lower front fascia, with Buick’s new three-shield badge mounted high between the lamps. The design draws heavily from the June 2022 Buick Wildcat concept, which foreshadows what other Buicks will look like in the future. The 2024 Buick Encore GX is also the first use of the new Buick badge in North America.
All 2024 Encore GX models come standard with LED headlights. Avenir and ST models add LED taillights, while the Avenir gets clear taillight lenses. It also gets a fancy front grille, chrome accents on the fenders, and 19-inch chrome wheels. ST models retain their sporty styling with black wheels and dark accents on the sides and rear.
and its motorization
Powertrain options carry over from the current model. To cool you down, it’s a 1.2-liter or 1.3-liter turbocharged three-cylinder that makes 155 horsepower. Front-wheel-drive models give you a CVT, while all-wheel-drive models use a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 2024 Buick Encore GX starts at $26,895, making it our top FWD trim level. The Encore GX ST starts at $28,095, while the flagship Avenir model is priced at $33,195. Those prices include destination charges, and Buick says build-to-order configurators will be available in May. However, production begins in March.
