New 2023 FORD ESCAPE What you REALLY NEED TO KNOW

Known as the Ford Kuga in Europe and other markets, the fourth-generation Ford Escape went on sale in the fall of 2019 and now gets the typical mid-life update. This SUV comes with sharper headlights that are interconnected by a “side-by-side” LED light bar if you purchase the ST-Line Elite.

This new trim level sits at the top of the range and joins the ST-Line Select and ST-Line as part of the updated lineup. Discreet styling tweaks have been made to the exterior, where new LED headlamps are standard across the range.

Also Standard on the ST-Line Elite and optional on the ST-Line Select are 19-inch wheels to give you more presence on the road. A more significant change is visible once you enter the cabin when the 2023 Ford Escape changes the infotainment system to SYNC 4 with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as support for OTA updates.

It has a much larger screen now at 13.2 inches and is complemented by a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Depending on the trim level and the boxes checked on the options list, the vehicle can be equipped with a host of safety tech: evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control (with Stop & Go), predictive speed assist, a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors and cross-traffic braking, among other systems integrated into Ford’s Copilot 360.

As for engines, the 2023 Ford Escape ST-Line comes with a 1.5-liter EcoBoost with 180 horsepower sent to the front wheels or an optional AWD system. Alternatively, you can get a full hybrid with FWD. The ST-Line Select and ST-Line Elite get a larger 2.0-liter EcoBoost with 250 hp and standard AWD, along with a hybrid option.

The lineup also includes the Plug-In Hybrid, which combines a 2.5-liter gasoline engine that runs on the Atkinson cycle with an electric motor and CVT box. It has a combined power of 210 hp delivered to the front axle. The Escape PHEV will be able to go up to 37 miles without drinking gas. Already available to order, the 2023 Ford Escape will arrive in dealerships early next year.

In addition to the recently added trio of ST-Line trim levels and the PHEV, it continues to be sold in Base, Active, and Platinum flavors. And prepare your pocket because the prices start at 27,500 North American Dollars
